AI Propaganda on TikTok

For the TV programme Kulturzeit, we produced a report on the use of AI by far-right social media accounts. The focus is on viral TikTok videos and accounts such as Dobermann Cloe, Traditionshüter, and Elli Sorglos. Using AI-generated hits, emotional images, and political codes, they spread racist narratives, downplay Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, and reach hundreds of thousands of users in the process.

Networks affiliated with the AfD are also increasingly relying on AI-generated content to attract attention on platforms like TikTok. Blue hearts, party symbols, and artificially generated music are typical identifying features there.

Leipzig-based media agency was part of the investigation. Its managing director was formerly the leader of the Identitarian Movement in Saxony and, according to research, is said to support AI campaigns in the political sphere.
